Share is a gameplay mechanic that plays a vital role in the Hyperdimension Neptunia series.

The concept of share represents the amount of influence a CPU and her nation has over a certain place. These places could include landmasses, cities, and towns. Shares depend on the amount of belief people have in a CPU. The more shares a CPU and her nation has, the more powerful they are. CPUs can be incapacitated if they don't have enough sufficient shares, although this is proven not to be true gameplay-wise.

In the Hyperdimension Neptunia series, majority of the shares are divided over the four nations (Planeptune, Lastation, Leanbox, and Lowee) of Gamindustri and another seperate influence from the major nations.

The amount of shares may also unlock certain events.

Hyperdimension Neptunia[]

Shares are divided into Planeptune, Lastation, Leanbox, Lowee, and an influence labeled as "Other." The Other may represent Arfoire's created influence, Overlord Momus.

Shares can be transferred from one influence to another by completing side quests. Shares for an influence will never decrease less than 5% with the exception of Other. If a CPU is defeated in battle, the shares will decrease for the nation that specific CPU represents.

Hyperdimension Neptunia mk2[]

Shares in Hyperdimension Neptunia mk2 are more complex than its game predecessor. Shares are distributed into capital cities of the major nations and 2 surrounding cities on each landmass.

Shares are divided into Planeptune, Lastation, Leanbox, Lowee, and Arfoire. Since the CPUs were bound in Gamindustri Graveyard for 3 years while ASIC were gaining most of the shares for Arfoire, almost 70% of all the shares belong to Arfoire in the beginning of the story. To be exact, 69.1% belongs to Arfoire, 7.6% belongs to Planeptune, 7.9% belong to Leanbox, 7.5% belong to Lastation, and 7.9% belong to Lowee at the beginning.

Shares can be transferred from one influence to another by doing quests from the Guild or winning battles in the Gamindustri Graveyard's Coliseum. There is no way to transfer shares back to Arfoire once all its shares are taken. This does not apply in the remake, however, and certain quests can transfer shares back to Arfoire.

Trivia[]

  • The term may have been derived from how a console war works, which game manufacturers compete against each other for market "shares."
