Kristoph V. Gunsche (クリストフ・V・グンシェ) is a recurring antagonist in Re;Start. Originally a noble young man, Kristoph hides in the shadows, manipulating those under him.
He is an expert monster-hunter and the arch-rival of Daku. Throughout the story, he is portrayed as having a German-like accent, though canonically his nationality is unknown. He currently resides in Leanbox, operating its many agency departments. His body is genetically modified, a superhuman able to fight anyone who stands in his way.
Appearance[]
Kristoph is a fair-skinned man of average height. He has short spiky, plum purple hair with messy green streaks that fall around the top of his. His eyes are a unique shade of purple purple, the color being described as “auroral.” He is usually shown with a neutral, and occasionally half-lidded frown.
Kristoph’s uniform consists of a black, double-breasted suit, a lavender-gray scarf, a button-up undershirt, and a bow tie. The uniform also comes with black, high-waisted dress pants, white gloves, and on occasions, a black fedora. His undershirt is green, while his bow tie is white and neatly tied. The double-breasted suit has a purple underlining, and Kristoph keeps it completely buttoned. He also wears a white pocket square in the left upper pocket of his suit. His lavender-gray scarf drapes over both his shoulders and under the suit’s lapels. The scarf has fringed ends, with the symbol of Leanbox printed on one end.
Personality[]
Parts of Kristoph’s personality are revealed by various characters in their arc scenarios. It is mentioned how, that he is a man of virtue and honor, having shown great respect towards Vert with his unwavering commitment and being well-respected by many.
However, due to unknown circumstances, Kristoph’s personality appears to have taken a mysterious and possibly sinister turn, seemingly having been affected by his crystal, which had slowly corrupted his mind, causing his personality to physically manifest, that personality eventually taking on the form of Kazuma himself.
Kristoph tends to maintain a calm and quiet demeanor around most people, pretending to be harmless as a member of the security department and claiming he prefers to avoid conflicts due to not being very proficient at combat, often using humble and affable dialogue while seeming rather weak-willed; being rather submissive to his superiors at best. Kristoph himself though, takes every opportunity to upset others by mocking them, deliberately provoking them, or even bringing up and prodding at sensitive topics, all for his own enjoyment. Even when he is on the losing side of a conflict, he would take the time to insult and taunt his foes.
Powers and Abilities[]
An extraordinary human, Kristoph’s martial art skills are nothing to scoff at. His skills with his knives are beyond that of the average human, being able to take on Daku, who is said to possess almost more strength than Infinity in combat with nothing more than his own power. To help put him in an advantage, Kristoph has knives that are enhanced via sorcery to prevent wounds from healing, although not being a drive user, giving him a significant edge in combat against those who can apply healing sorcery. A testament to Kristoph’s power is that he was able to not only fight, but actually subdue and defeat Noire, Neptune, and Blanc by himself.
Having observed many fighting styles from his many encounters, Kristoph has developed his own unique style to help him in combat.
Character Report[]
The chief of Leanbox’s Security and Agency Department, he is in charge of all drive operations and management. He is also Vert’s vice executive assistant and butler. He comes across as aloof and condescending, never showing his true colors. He is also brilliant and not one to underestimate. During the debacle with his crystal, he was successful in removing it from his body, thus creating a separate personality manifested from his hatred of human beings. After that, he has left Leanbox with his current whereabouts being unknown.
